The author of the commercial is Lucas Films, a well known movie production company. The purpose of the commercial is to appeal to  viewers and persuade them to go to the theater and watch the film. The audience of the commercial is Star Wars fans and people who may have never seen a Star Wars film before. The commercial establishes ethos with the Lucas Film logo and well known actors such as Woody Harrelson. The use of science and space travel establishes logos by using logic and physics to explain some of the science fiction aspects, such as the use of the control panels that run their aircraft.
