  1. This source, Textbook of Diagnostic Sonography, is a non-academic textbook about problems and complications that may be diagnosed with the use of an ultrasound. This source is very descriptive and informative about different body parts and what may be diagnosed with an ultrasound.  This source uses medical terminology to describe each diagnosis. I will use this source as an example of a textbook sonographers may read or write for their profession.

    This source is a non-academic report of a patient’s condition, this sort of writing is likely to be the most common form of writing for a sonographer. The document has advanced medical vocabulary and the language is direct and straightforward, using as few words as possible to get the point across. The structure of the document includes the background of the patient, the purpose, methods, results, and conclusion. I will use this source as an example of the day to day documents a sonographer may write or encounter.

    This source is titled Ultrasonography of the Upper Extremity, it is a non-academic book on sonography of the hand and wrist. This source is likely to be studied by sonographers or those who are in school to become sonographers. This source is detailed and uses medical terms to explain the different parts of the upper extremity for a sonographer. The structure of this source is a series of chapters each describing a different part of the hand and wrist or a problem with the hand or wrist. I will use this source as an example of what a sonographer may read or study for their profession.
