Major Writing Assignment #1 Summary

     Major writing assignment number 1 is a 1250-word paper consisting of one interview and six written sources regarding the major or field the writer is interested in pursuing. Three of the written sources must be professional and three must be informal to get a better understanding of the types of documents that are written in the field. This assignment is like two papers I wrote in high school, both of which were about a specific issue or debate that concerned me. The second of the two papers was about how schools should start classes later in the morning to benefit students’ health, I was required to include a primary source for this paper so I had an interview with a neurologist to include his opinion on the topic. 

Questions/Confusions 
  1. 1. Can the person we interview be a relative? 
  1. 2. How do you identify what is a professional source and what is an informal source? 
  1. 3. What if the person we interview does not have much to say about writing in their field? Do we continue to write the report or find another person to interview?

Introduction Nearly everyone uses cell phones and social media today, but does this make us more or less social than if we did not have them? On average people pick up their phone twenty eight times in a day, a third of which are for no particular reason, which can interrupt their interactions with others who are actually present (MacDonald, 2018).
